Women Day



Women Day 

Women’s Solidarity Front participated in the international Women Day 2015. Commemoration organized by Mother & Daughters of Sri Lanka. A rally and meeting were held with a demand to raise women’s political representation to 25 percent. Women’s Solidarity Front General Secretary Mrs. P. Logeswari, in her speech where one put forward her views on the problems of the up country women, stressed the following points:
  • Land and housing right of the plantation women the legalized 20 perches of land for housing and 2 acres of land for livelihood activities to each family.
  •  Action needed to be taken to find solution to the EPF, ETF and service gratuity problem of the plantation workers – which continues unmitigated for over a decade-involving Rs.1888 million.
  • Women representation in politics be raised to 25% with alliances for women in parliament, provincial councils and pradeshiya sabha, ensured.
